Weekend Workshop, Bova Actors Workshop, Actors have been asking, “What is the No Acting Please Workshop going to be like?  Are we going to work in it or is it more of a lecture?”  Here’s the gist: Reread the book, bring it with you to the workshop, and together we are going to work through it, chapter by chapter, and make each page come to life …  Of course we can’t go through every exercise, but exercises from each chapter will be explained … or demonstrated through one of the actors in the class.


I’ve taught this workshop quite a few times.  I appreciate how detailed Eric goes into Sense Memory, preparations, Joan’s Journal, and, of course, BEING.  However, what always sticks out for me is how this book speaks to the heart and soul of the actor.  On countless occasions I’ve had actors come to me (as if I wrote the book!) and say ”Anthony, when I read No Acting Please, it just made sense to me.  It spoke to me.  It very simply answered questions.” Or something like, “I knew I was being taught a load of crap but I didn’t know what was right until I read No Acting Please.”  The quote I personally like
a lot is: ”When I read a book by…Eric Morris called No Acting Please, it put it all in perspective for me.”

I am looking forward in making these pages come to life.  It should be lots of fun, educational, and challenging… This is the perfect workshop for beginners as well as advanced actors who are looking for a strong rudimental one-day workshop.

No Acting Please is the foundational book of the Eric Morris System, and Irreverent Acting (another workshop) is the structure of the System.  We will have a good time on that one as well … coming in 2012.
